Den of Thieves 2: Pantera (2025) – Official Trailer | Gerard Butler | lionsgate

Lionsgate has released the official trailer for Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2018 crime thriller Den of Thieves. Directed by Christian Gudegast, the film sees the return of Gerard Butler as “Big Nick” O’Brien, a hard-nosed, gritty Los Angeles sheriff with a reputation for bending the law to get his man. The trailer teases an adrenaline-pumping, high-stakes heist that will take the action from the streets of LA to the European criminal underworld.

The trailer opens with a voiceover from Big Nick, recounting his turbulent life since the last movie, where he narrowly escaped death in a high-stakes showdown with master thief Merrimen. This time, Nick’s sights are set on a new target: an international criminal ring led by the elusive and ruthless Pantera, a notorious gangster operating across Europe. Played by returning star O’Shea Jackson Jr., Donnie, a former member of Merrimen’s crew, reappears as the bridge between Nick and Pantera’s shadowy organization.

Set primarily in the streets of London and Paris, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera promises intense action scenes, including explosive shootouts, car chases through narrow European alleys, and a gripping central heist that rivals anything from the original. The trailer hints at a more complex plot, with Nick going undercover to infiltrate Pantera’s gang while dealing with corrupt law enforcement and old enemies seeking revenge.

The film highlights tense face-offs between Butler’s character and Pantera, played by a new, menacing villain (rumored to be portrayed by Mexican actor Diego Luna). With both men determined to outsmart the other, the stakes rise, building to what promises to be a heart-pounding final showdown.

With a budget estimated at $70 million, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera boasts impressive action set pieces, top-tier cinematography, and an international scope that elevates the series from a local LA crime story to a global thriller. Gerard Butler’s return as Big Nick ensures more gritty, relentless action, while the European setting adds a fresh dynamic to the cat-and-mouse game between cops and criminals. The film is set to release in 2025 and will surely attract fans of the first installment and crime thrillers alike.
