Labor Day (2013)

Labor Day (2013) is a romantic drama film directed by Jason Reitman, adapted from the novel of the same name by Joyce Maynard. The film revolves around Adele (Kate Winslet), a single mother who lives alone with her teenage son Henry, after experiencing a deep emotional trauma.

Their dull life is suddenly changed when Frank (Josh Brolin), an injured escaped prisoner, forces them to take him into their home. But instead of violence or threats, Frank gradually becomes a warm, caring man, awakening in Adele long-buried hope and emotions.

Labor Day is a gentle, profound work about healing, faith, and the ability to love again – even in the most unexpected circumstances. The film is distinguished by the delicate performances of Winslet and Brolin, and the melancholy, poetic, yet humane atmosphere.
