Black Adam 2 (2025) – Budget, Release Date, Success Story and What We Know So Far!

Despite the excitement following the first Black Adam film, a direct sequel, Black Adam 2, is not currently in active development. The original movie, starring Dwayne Johnson as the titular anti-hero and featuring a cameo from Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, was released in 2022 with a massive budget estimated between $195–230 million. While it opened strong with a $67 million domestic debut and grossed $391 million worldwide, the film ultimately fell short of the high box office expectations set by Warner Bros. and DC Studios, especially considering its substantial production and marketing costs.
The sequel was initially teased, with Dwayne Johnson and producers expressing interest in expanding Black Adam’s story and exploring crossovers with other DC heroes, including Wonder Woman. However, after a major leadership change at DC Studios, new heads James Gunn and Peter Safran decided not to include Black Adam in the first phase of their new DC Universe plans. Johnson confirmed in late 2022 that Black Adam 2 was “off the table for now,” though he left the door open for the character’s possible return in future multiverse projects.
The original film’s success story lies in its diverse cast and its attempt to introduce a new anti-hero to the DC franchise. However, mixed critical reception and the shifting direction of the DC Universe have put the sequel on indefinite hold. As of now, there is no confirmed release date, no official budget for a sequel, and no production timeline. Fans hoping to see Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot together in a DC film will have to wait for future announcements as the DC Universe continues to evolve.
